Mike Propen
Advisory Board Member

Michael Propen (Mike) is credited with driving productivity through corporate-wide networks and accelerating growth through sharing of common processes and best practices. He started his career as a Design Engineer and worked in this position for 5 years at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft and then at Lockheed Missiles & Company. In 1977, he joined Textron where he held various senior positions. In late 1994, he became Vice President of Engineering at AlliedSignal, Stratford, CT. In 1997 he was made Vice President Technology & Business Development at AlliedSignal Automotive Products Group. In 1998, he took the position of Corporate Vice President – Technology & Program Management at Honeywell International.

Besides Aequs, Mike is also on the board of QuEST Global where he counsels in talent acquisitions and potential acquisition and integration of new entities into QuEST Global.

Mike holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physics/Mathematics from Queens College, NY, BS degree in Aeronautics & Astronautics from New York University, NY, Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Florida Technological University, FL, and an MBA from the University of New Haven, CT.

Crispin Vincenti-Brown
Advisory Board Member

Crispin is the driving force behind the international practices of the Bourton Group, a management consultancy specialising in operational performance improvement, since 1975.

Crispin had managed Bourton Group’s French and Italian offices before moving to the US where he led US operations. Subsequently, Crispin set up office in Europe to focus on Bourton Group’s high technology international clientele.

Crispin applies his expertise in strategic and operations management to the aerospace, energy and electronics sectors. He is well known for his work in developing strategies for the Agile Enterprise®, value based management and “Lean” operations. Crispin’s success in helping clients take products from concept to market include the introduction of new operational processes in the design and manufacture of aerospace components in Europe, US and Canada and implementing lean operations for a major Indian aerospace conglomerate. His clients include Airbus Industries, Boeing, UTC, Arianespace, BAE Systems, Cummins, Fiat, Schlumberger, Snecma, Rolls Royce, Lockheed Martin and Textron.

Crispin is a European Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Institute of Engineering & Technology in the UK. Crispin served his apprenticeship with a French aerospace machine tool company and graduated from the University of Birmingham with an Honours degree in engineering production.

Ashok K Baweja
Advisory Board Member

Ashok K Baweja has joined Aequs as an Advisory Board Member from QuEST Global Engineering Services, where he was heading their Indian entity, Quest Global Defense Engineering Services (QGD), for over 5 years, managing offset driven opportunities and new business development.

During his extensive stint at HAL, Ashok headed Aero Engine & Helicopter Divisions and Corporate Business Development. Later he joined the Board as the MD for Design & Development, and as the Chairman from 2004 to 2009. During his tenureship, HAL revenues grew to $2.3 Billion.

Ashok’s significant achievements include certification & service entry of the Advanced Light Helicopter variants, besides development of the Intermediate Jet Trainer, major upgrades of the Jaguar Strike Aircraft, Sea Harrier, Chetak and Cheetah Helicopters, production of Darin standard, Jaguar Strike aircraft, Sukhoi Mk 30 I’s and ALH Helicopters. He has been instrumental in various alliances and ventures with Private Indian and foreign companies for development of complex aircraft systems and technologies. He worked with HCL Technologies briefly as a Senior Advisor for Aero & Defense and Business Development before joining QuEST in Oct 2012.

Ashok holds two graduate degrees, in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. He also holds a master’s degree in business administration.

Dhiraj Mathur
Advisory Board Member

Dhiraj combines vast field and policy experience in the State and Federal Governments, multilateral organisations and the private sector. Dhiraj was a Partner with PwC India. He set up the first professional Aerospace & Defence (A&D) practice in India as well as the Trade Remedial Measures (TRM) and Education practices. He has been the lead strategic advisor to many leading foreign and Indian corporations in a wide range of sectors including A&D, Education, Auto, Health, Tourism, Pharma, Civil Aviation, Electronics, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), foreign trade policy and TRM.

Prior to PwC, he spent 24 years in the Indian Administrative Service, was a consultant with the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation and the Foreign Investment Advisory Services of the World Bank/IFC. Key positions in the Govt. of India include Secretary of the Department of Energy, G/o Madhya Pradesh, Director in the D/o Industrial Policy & Promotion, G/o India. He was a Director on the Boards of the power distribution, generation and transmission companies of MP, as well as the Regional Rural bank and Central Cooperative banks in MP.

He has also been on the National Defence Committees of ASSOCHAM and AMCHAM.

His areas of expertise include public policy, sectoral regulatory regimes, Defence Procurement Procedures (DPP), localisation and defence offset policies, state incentives schemes, FDI and Industrial Licensing policies, exchange control laws, TRM and foreign trade policy.

Dhiraj holds a B. Tech from IIT, Delhi, and Masters in Economic Policy Management from Columbia University, New York. He completed his MBA in Finance from Pace University, New York and M. Phil in International Economics from New School University, New York.
